A digital tuning box system from TDI Tuning is similar in size to that of a mobile phone. Our vehicle specific software is loaded onto the tuning box itself, once combined with the correct connection harness to match the required engine’s sensors the tuning box system is ready to be plugged into the engine.

Which sensors do you connect too?

Diesel Engines:

In the vast majority of cases we make engine fuelling and turbo boost changes to optimize engine performance. On some more recent vehicles we now need to control additional turbo chargers and make changes relevant to engine speed (RPM).

Petrol Engines:

Due to the nature of how petrol engines function we need forced induction, e.g. a turbo charger to release the additional power modern turbo charged engines are capable of. We make boost changes whether that be to one or two boost related sensors. Again as with diesel tuning we can where required use engine speed (RPM) to govern the performance changes we make.

Works In Harmony With Your Engine & ECU

Our digital tuning box technology connects to and makes various engine sensor level data changes to release hidden power and torque from your engine. In most cases we make fuelling and turbo boost related changes without touching your vehicles ECU (Engine Control Unit). Once our tuning box has received data from the relevant sensor it processes this information per the vehicle specific map loaded onto the tuning box before sending on a modified signal output. This modified output is what your vehicles ECU receives and acts upon. Tuning your engine in this way ensures your ECU is always in full control and ultimately makes the right decisions.

Because our tuning boxes sit in-line with your engines original sensors this means that we never bypassed your ECU. Your ECU and all its safety features remain intact at all times, the signals it receives from our tuning box are within spec and interpreted in the correct manner.

Why Only Turbo Vehicles?

OIn order for us to make effective changes to your engines power and torque we need one or more engine components to work with which are capable of being optimized such as a turbo charger. Often this can be fueling optimization but there comes a time when we need to look towards optimizing the combustion process further which means air pressure data through the manifold has to be modified as well. The end result is achieving an elevated level of turbo boost.

Without a turbo charger there is little to work with when it comes to tuning a modern vehicle. Whilst naturally aspirated engines aren’t compatible with a TDI Tuning box, we do provide an engine remapping service that suits many naturally aspirated engines.
