This month we take a closer look at the Land Rover Defender. Arguably Britain’s most iconic vehicle.
The Land Rover Defender is an off road veteran. A true icon. The 1940's marked the launch of the first ever Defender and in 1976 there were over 1,000,000 of them. Read on to find out why this Land Rover Defender is our Car of the Month for January...
This stunning car had to be our Car of the Month for January. The weather is getting colder and the mud and ice on the roads are becoming more and more of an issue. So, what is the best vehicle for the cold winter months? If you haven't guessed it already, it's the Land Rover Defender. Something that has the ability to travel over any type of terrain and through the most treacherous conditions. Not only is it the king of off-roading, it also carries a huge amount of nostalgia along with it. The impact it had on the Second World War has made it a British icon. It would be impossible to improve this Land Rover Defender in any way. Well, almost.
We supply a bespoke tuning box for the Defender. Like the defender, the TDI-Tuning box is safe and reliable. It gives this ubiquitous SUV the power boost it deserves. Our CRTD4 Tuning Box for the Defender is at the cutting edge of digital tuning technology. The CRTD4 on this vehicle works with 3 engine sensors to deliver optimal power output. The RPM sensor, the boost sensor, and the fuel sensor. All three of these work in unison to produce phenomenal results. After a short install, huge amounts of power and torque are unlocked. The power unlocked by the custom CRTD4 revitalises the engine, this Defender now has 158 BHP at it's disposal, an increase of 38. Not only that, it has 439 NM of torque, 79 more! It makes driving the Defender easier, more enjoyable, and more economical.
The fact the Defender’s production run was so long stands testament to its timeless appeal. It is hard to imagine how Land Rover will make a new version of this functional vehicle without losing any of its nostalgic charm. The arrival of a new model brings it up to date with new technology, but is this something Defender fans want? The new Defender is touted to have a water wading ability like no other. With the ability to wade through water that is 900mm deep. Not only that, it will also be able to remain submerged in water for up to an hour! The incredible stats are endless. It's ability to climb and descend humongous hills is one of it's major party tricks. A 45 degree incline and a 47 degree decline are the official figures. All in all, it's going to be a very exciting vehicle and it’s coming very soon!
So when modern day technology meets old-school versatility will there be a divide? There will be groups of people who love and cherish the old. There will also be groups of people who are anticipating great things and are on the edge of their seat for the new model. We can be certain of one thing. TDI-Tuning will be able to unlock more power and fuel efficiency from both the modern and classic engines!
