Audi, take a bow. This RS5 is a sublime car. One that we simply couldn’t overlook as our Car Of The Month. It’s hard to say a bad word about this car. Everything seems to be exactly as it should be, the perfect balance. So, can anything bad be said about it? Surely there is something amiss? Firstly, let us start with the engine. The twin turbocharged 2.9 lire V6 produces 444BHP & 600NM. Some seriously impressive figures to start with. It can be felt on the road as well, it’s stupidly quick. As the saying goes “I would probably have my licence taken off me within a week”. Really though, it’s very tough not to drive this car to the limit, partly due to the smiles per gallon it can achieve. So, what’s the issue then? Audi are limiting the production of this particular model. The reasoning behind this special edition – emissions. Due to global vehicle emissions becoming more prevalent, there will be a new “Petrol Particulate Filter” in the 2020 model. This is bad news for power, and good news for the environment. This means more restriction in the exhaust system, and less noise. But that’s the new model. The important thing to consider is that this “Limited edition” version, is not restricted, and it also has more power to give.  

Now that is out of the way let’s talk about the car. It’s an unequivocal honed performance vehicle. Audi have openly stated that it’s the last of a breed. It’s easy to see that no expense was spared when creating this beautiful machine. So as you can imagine the price tag reflects that. Speculation online seems to be edging towards the same conclusion. Have Audi capitalised on the whole “Emissions saga” and brought out a no holding back special edition so they can charge a hefty price tag? Bear in mind this car costs around £90,000. Driving the RS5, you learn quickly that this car is not one to mess around with. It has insane amounts of power that bursts into life as soon as you go near the throttle. Turbo-lag is non-existent. The power just keeps on coming as well, you almost want it to run out of steam! This breakneck speed is partially achieved by an intelligent Quattro system. It creates a surreal feeling of control, even in damp conditions you feel in complete control. This intelligent system works in perfect harmony with the TDI-Tuning box.
