The Ford Fiesta ST is a phenomenal car for British B-Roads. The one pictured comes coupled with the optional "Performance package". So it comes equipped with the Quaife Limited-Slip Differential. This makes the twisty roads of the UK a breeze to manoeuvre around. The 197 BHP engine is eager, ready to unleash at any given moment. The instant power is surprising, considering the engine only has 1500 cc to play around with. The Turbocharger doesn't seem to lag, the power is there. The noise generated from the exhaust is also a pleasure to listen to.
The selectable drive modes mean you can have it in Normal, Sport, and, Track mode. The normal mode feels as if you are driving a normal EcoBoost Ford Fiesta. In this mode, a cylinder can also shut down, taking the 3-cylinder engine down to 2. This means this little ST can achieve 40 MPG. In Sport mode the active exhaust comes alive. The steering input and the throttle responsiveness are also improved. In our opinion, Sport mode is definitely the one to use. Straight Line Speed: Where Is It?
The Fiesta ST is widely known to be gripping when put up against twisty corners and tight bends. It's the thing it does best. But what happens when you get it on a straight stretch of road? Does it feel as fast as it does in the corners? The simple answer. No. This model ST comes with a 1.5 litre 3-cylinder engine. We aren't saying this is a bad thing, but, when it comes to straight line speed, it struggles. It runs out of steam.
There are a few solutions that come to mind. Remove unnecessary weight, and no, we don't mean your passengers. Rear seats, spare wheels, anything you don't need.
