It is forged a reputation of sturdiness and reliability partly based on the range of diesel engines which Toyota has fitted to them over the past 4 decades. BBC2 motoring program Top Gear are particularly fond of them having branded the vehicles “indestructible” and drove a customised 3.0 diesel Hilux to the magnetic North Pole in 2006.
