The Ford Fiesta is an icon for British motoring. It is the UK's bestselling car, with good reason too. The iconic Fiesta has survived and thrived in the UK market since 1976. Why is the Ford Fiesta so popular in the UK? Why has it been popular for this long? What makes this new Ford Fiesta ST one of the best hot hatches you can buy? Read on to find out more...
Getting Into Detail: The Ford Fiesta ST
The Ford Fiesta ST is a phenomenal car for British B-Roads. The one pictured comes coupled with the optional "Performance package". So it comes equipped with the Quaife Limited-Slip Differential. This makes the twisty roads of the UK a breeze to manoeuvre around. The 197 BHP engine is eager, ready to unleash at any given moment. The instant power is surprising, considering the engine only has 1500 cc to play around with. The Turbocharger doesn't seem to lag, the power is there. The noise generated from the exhaust is also a pleasure to listen to.
The selectable drive modes mean you can have it in Normal, Sport, and, Track mode. The normal mode feels as if you are driving a normal EcoBoost Ford Fiesta. In this mode, a cylinder can also shut down, taking the 3-cylinder engine down to 2. This means this little ST can achieve 40 MPG. In Sport mode the active exhaust comes alive. The steering input and the throttle responsiveness are also improved. In our opinion, Sport mode is definitely the one to use. With the fancy drive modes, and, the addition of a Slip-Diff, what could the Fiesta ST be missing?
Straight Line Speed: Where Is It?
The Fiesta ST is widely known to be gripping when put up against twisty corners and tight bends. It's the thing it does best. But what happens when you get it on a straight stretch of road? Does it feel as fast as it does in the corners? The simple answer. No. This model ST comes with a 1.5 litre 3-cylinder engine. We aren't saying this is a bad thing, but, when it comes to straight line speed, it struggles. It runs out of steam.
There are a few solutions that come to mind. Remove unnecessary weight, and no, we don't mean your passengers. Rear seats, spare wheels, anything you don't need. But this will only make the ST feel marginally faster. To actually improve the engine power and straight-line speed it needs something more. It needs a modification like no other. If you haven't guessed what this is, carry on reading to find out!
The Super Modification: Unparalleled Power, No Drawbacks
If you are driving around in a Ford Fiesta ST then it is still under manufacturer warranty. As they surfaced in 2018. So, it’s decision time. Do you tune the vehicle in the conventional way, an ECU Remap? Or, do you use the TDI-Tuning Box? There are benefits for both routes, but the TDI-Tuning Box has one advantage like no other. It is traceless once removed from the vehicle. This means that the vehicle in question keeps it’s manufacturer warranty intact. The TDI-Tuning box optimises sensor readings BEFORE they get sent to the ECU. The straight-line speed of the new Fiesta ST is now improved. That additional power that is desperately needed, is now readily available. The power is welcomed on the straight stretches of road, where before, it struggled. The TDI-Tuning Box on this Ford Fiesta takes no longer than 20 minutes to install. Better still, you don’t need any prior mechanical experience, our detailed instructions mean your set up with more power in no time! The owner of this one was thrilled with the results. Do you own a Fiesta ST? Do you want more power? Then the TDI-Tuning Box is the tune for you.
